The food is excellent. The decor not so much, but I have eaten all over fashion island and this is a hidden gem. The beef stroganoff was incredible and so weee the skinny fries and salmon salad!

Had another amazing lunch here at 59th and Lex Cafe! Love their wide selection of foods to choose from. Very healthy choices and generous portions.
I got the Salmon Honey Walnut and Veggie special. It was amazing! Great taste, clean, fresh and perfect portion size. Also got the Tuna Sandwich on Sour Dough for a later meal. Also great sandwich that went perfect with my side Cesar Salad.
There are so many great choices here I always have a hard time deciding what to get. This place has great food and service. Derrick gave me excellent service and was very knowledgeable of the menu. He recommended the dishes I got and I was glad I went with his suggestions.
The outdoor seating is great on a clear sunny day. Highly recommended eating here! -

The delicious French fries are back!! Well, they have been for a while, but I'm just now writing this review. So good! Last time, I really wanted like 3 orders of fries, but I thought it would look weird so I had fries and the California caprese. I really think all capreses (capresi??) should be made with burrata.
My dog made the mistake of coming with me (he really hates shopping...), but he had a fun time eating the turkey off my mom's salad, getting pets and then staring at the koi pond after. I can't think of a more perfect day than lunch at Bloomingdale's and an afternoon of shopping! -

59th & Lex Cafe offers magnificent service in a unique, al fresco dining setting at Fashion Island... but you will pay for the privilege.
I was famished after a 4-hour-long beach clean up event nearby and our group decided that the 45-minute wait at R+D Kitchen was simply too long to bear so we decided to give 59th & Lex Cafe a chance on a warm summer day in Newport Beach. Located in the center of a wide corridor in front of Bloomingdale's, you will cherish the people watching and outdoor seating area immediately. Even better is the service - it is extraordinary.
The menu is New American and seems to attract the mature and well-heeled Newport set but offers little in playfulness or creativity; Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Grilled Meats, and Desserts fill the pages at sometime outlandish price points. A simple Salad can set you back $20.00 and even the Burger comes at you with a steep $15.00 tag. A lunch for two would easily break the $50.00 threshold without libations.
I was intrigued by the Bayou Shrimp Salad and figured it would be the perfect dish for a 90-degree day. The Salad was prepared in a blindingly fast 5-minute window and before me before I could finish a single piece of their exquisite French Bread and Butter. Blackened and the pan-seared Shrimp is perched atop of a small portion of Romaine Lettuce, sliced Avocado, Roasted Corn, Diced Tomatoes, Black & White Beans and served with two containers of their zippy, tangy Cilantro Lime Dressing on the side. The Shrimp was expertly prepared and certainly gratifying, I just wish there was more of it - especially at $19.00. The same can be truthfully said about the Salad.
6 medium-sized Shrimp? Come on 59th & Lex Cafe - up these serving sizes.
Portion gripes aside, I did enjoy my lunch and the ambiance is hard to beat when paired with SoCal's marvelous weather. If I find myself in need of a quick lunch spot at Fascist Island,
59th & Lex Cafe will remain on the roster. -

Great lunch with daughter. Both had baked goat cheese salad. It was amazing. The goat cheese was so creamy and the dressing topped it perfectly.
